Karpacz

is a tourist town in the Karkonosze Mountains. The city is situated at the foot of the Śnieżka on Lomnica River. Thanks to its beautiful location at the foot of the Karkonosze Mountains, good climatic conditions and the fantastic advantages of the geographical environment, Karpacz is a hub of sports - both winter and summer recreation.

Karpacz has perfect conditions for doing of winter sports and all forms of recreation. There are several ski slopes throughout the city. In all there are ski lifts and ski equipment rental. Most of them have lighting, so they are open till late at night. For the amateur ice there are prepared few skating rinks, including one open all year round. Cross-country skiers will be delighted with the beautifully situated cross-country track and more than 13 km trail located at the shelter "Silesian House".
Karpacz is also a lot of interesting opportunities to spend time in the summer. Only going for walk around the city will be really interesting. You have to visit the Temple Wang - pearls of Scandinavian wooden architecture from twelfth century. The attention of tourists is directed to an unique Municipal Museum of Toys. Its collection contains over 2 thousand exhibits, donated mainly by Henryk Tomaszewski - creator of the famous Wroclaw Pantomime. You can learn about the history of sport and tourism in Karkonosze during the visiting of the local Museum of Sports and Tourism.
Perhaps it sounds incredible, but in Poland we have our own Wild Waterfall, located next to the lower station of the lift to Kopa. People, who love extreme experiences, they must go down by the longest Polish summer luge track or a bobsleigh track alpine "Alpine - Coaster."
Rocks and doing belayed climbing are today very fashionable sport. The city usually makes use of a specially designated hall for it. However, in Karpacz you can try yourself and cope with most real 25 meter walls Raven Rocks. It only discovers attraction of the rock climbing. To complete this offer there are diverse and attractive trails and tennis court.

Karpacz

The original name of Karpacz was Krummhubel (top curve). This name comes from the characteristic shape of the spine, which lay in the center of the village. Its origins dates back to the sixteenth century
After the war lasting 30 years – these times were dominated by religious persecution. Then, many immigrants came from Bohemia to find safe place. They were specialists in using of herbal and thanks to them the city developed quickly. Using of natural treatment methods has attracted crowds of tourists. It helped to create the necessary new profession – for example a mountain guide. The train station, opened in 1895 (located on the railroad tracks 544,3 m above sea level are the highest in Poland) resulted in tremendous growth as a spa town.
At the end of the nineteenth century, Karpacz become the sports center as well. In 1903 there is created the first ski club. Initially, the administrative area of today's city was divided into three quarters and independent municipality: Krummhubel - Karpacz, Bruckenberg - Bierutowice, so Upper and Ploczki Karpacz. In the twentieth century, all three settlements merged into a town with unique qualities. Since then, tourism is the most important area of life in Karpacz.
